The Surf Retreat at Playa Maderas


The Surf Retreat at Playa Maderas is a private residential enclave comprised of 4 detached homes within the Cinco Bahнas Development, a private gated community. It is located a few kilometers north of San Juan del Sur and is about a 20-25 minute drive from town. These homes are located high on a hill giving them a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the beaches of Maderas and Marsella. Playa Maderas, a quick two minute drive, is one of the most popular surfing spots in Nicaragua. All the beaches offer great places to surf, snorkel, sun bathe, and take quiet walks against golden sunsets. Looking in the other direction from the top of the hill, the twin volcanic peaks of Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua can be seen.

Each of the homes in this tropical paradise has approximately 1,250 square feet of living space. Each home is beautifully furnished and decorated with handcrafted furniture, local art work and hand thrown pottery. The living/dining areas are comfortable and offer incredible views of the ocean. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a great meal. For your convenience, there is also a half bath located on the first floor. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms complete with private baths and ceiling fans. Each bedroom opens up to a patio with spectacular views of the Pacific. There is a common area pool which is a great place to sit back, relax and catch a great sunset.

The seclusion of The Surf Retreat is one of the things that make it so special but there are several restaurants and small stores in the area for your convenience. We also offer a grocery service and will be happy to stock your refrigerator for you. Don’t feel like cooking? We can offer you prepared meals that are healthy and delicious and all you have to worry about is the clean-up.
